Six matches had been played. Some give the world a shock. Others give their fans satisfying results. Trinidad and Tobago is certainly the best shocker. It has held Sweden with a 0-0 draw at Dortmund. Haha...their first FIFA World Cup finals appearance just can't be taken lightly. Actually, Sweden is really very unlucky to not even score when the ball was very near to the goal. And as for the other Group B match, England has performed not up to standard as Paraguay tried its best while losing its first choice goalkeeper. Then again Michael Owen was performing below standard while his counterpart Peter Crouch can be seen to do his job well. So it looks like England has lots to improve if it wants to claim the FIFA World Cup crown this summer.
The host country Germany is impressive too with young players like Podolski and Schweinsteiger making great attacks without the captain Ballack around due to injury. And Poland has done a horrible job in the other Group A match. It has played with lots of mistakes and that makes me wonder why Jerzy Dudek is not called up for the team. While the Polish side failed in its first match, Ecuador took the advantage to score twice to secure the three points. Actually, Costa Rica is a stronger contender in the group too while it has scored two goals against Germany through Wanchope. Haha...that's interesting as great fights will be expected from the coming matches for Group A. As for Group C, Argentina and the Netherlands look set to proceed to the next round while getting three points from their first matches. However, I believe that Côte d'Ivoire and Serbia and Montenegro will still fight on cos' losing in the opening matches does not mean the end of their tournament. They won't let their opponents easily grab the points. And I must say that the match between Serbia and Montenegro and the Netherlands was impressive, especially Serbia and Montenegro's fighting spirits and the Netherlands' Robben displaying excellent playing. No wonder Chelsea has bought him at a high price. Haha... Hmm...10 matches to go to have the first look for the 32 teams. More great fighting will be expected. Shockers are no exception. New football talents will be discovered too. I'll come back with more about FIFA World Cup later.
